Elegant evening jacket, ca. 1908. maker's label: Johnson & ? (illegible) *Burton upon Trent. Burton upon Trent is a town on the River Trent in the east of the county of Staffordshire in England. About the jacket: black silk appliqués with chain stitch on black tulle, wide collar with ruffle trim of silk crepe. Lined inside with light silk; this has been renewed. Moderately well preserved. Parts of the ruffled edges have come off (they can be easily sewn back on). In the hem area, the silk is somewhat chipped; so is the tulle pulled over it. Minor other flaws. Nice for draping. For wearing only conditionally suitable. The decoration is not included.
