An American fashion museum brought this to our attention: the blue coat may be a rare leather automobile coat from the 1920s. They have a similar one in their collection and carry it there in the "sports department".
Vibrant purple kid leather coat trimmed in printed spotted pony hair fur, inseam front pockets, a brushed silver-tone and purple left hip closure, and lined in wool flannel. Label: Callot Soeurs / Paris / Nouvelle Marque Deposee / Hiver 1927-28. Very good to excellent condition. There are some areas of discoloration most noticeable on the front right sleeve, the front opening by each inset pocket, front left hip, and the back near the shoulder blades and sleeves. The hemline is darkened from wear and there are some areas of wear on each of the hips which appears to be minor scrapes. The purple paint on the left buckle is worn on the edges and overall. The lining has several pinhead sized holes in the upper body.
