Antique-Gown

We haven't had such an elegant lace tea dress in our hands for a long time. Here is one! London label: G. Sykes, 24 Hanover Square W. (London). Today, dresses from the Sykes fashion house can only be found in museums. This antique tea dress is a two-piece consisting of a top and skirt. The skirt is made of Bedfordshire Maltese lace - as is the bodice. Silk taffeta underskirt; train, dust border at the hemline made of machine-made lace. The bodice is made of cream-colored silk, but then "dressed up" with lace, velvet and crocheted parts (on the cuffs and in the bust area). Hanging bust, which is typical of dresses from around 1904. Slightly puffed sleeves (also typical of this period). The dress is in excellent condition and is almost museum quality. This is very rare for dresses made of lace and with a Chinese taffeta silk underskirt. As a rule, these skirts are tattered. This one is not. All in original condition. The decoration is not included.
