A summer evening coat, ca. 1912, label: Strawbridge & Clothier, Philadelphia. This is a department store that was founded in 1868. Provenance: Valentine Museum. The coat is made of black silk, with a wide velvet edge at the hem. Small velvet collar. Long, gold-colored tulle sleeves with lamé embroidery. The same fabric has been used for the chest and back. Hanging decorative tassels at the front and back. Two sequin flowers/rosettes. The coat can be worn open or closed. A thin tulle net was probably attached over the black silk. If our assumption is correct, this is no longer there. In good to very good condition. A few, very few, tiny holes. The decoration is not included.
