Rare Gibson Girl dress in the color red, ca. 1902. Material: a thin, flowing silk. American label: CW Sherwood * 281 W. 11th St. NY. The antique dress is a two-piece consisting of a skirt and a top. The bodice is lined inside with red silk and reinforced with corset stays. Puffed sleeves at the upper arms, which then turn into straight tube sleeves. Chest insert made of lace. The skirt ends in a small train. Sewn on applique in the area of the skirt. The skirt is in excellent condition. The bodice is moderately good to well preserved. The red inner silk is a bit tattered and chipped; the lace breast insert has tears; probably some lace is missing as well. Nevertheless: a very nice and distinguished dress. The decoration is not included.
