Three-piece riding ensemble from the Edwardian period, ca. 1908. Origin: England. The ensemble consists of a riding dress, a riding hat and a riding whip. The antique dress is made of a petrol-colored wool fabric. It is a two-piece consisting of a skirt and a long jacket. The jacket closes in the front with three buttons. The chest area is worked tightly, from the waist the jacket is worked wide. This makes it easier to sit in the side saddle. The jacket has no pockets, but there is a small pocket in the skirt. This allows the rider to take out or put in something small high up in the saddle. The skirt closes at the side. Two buttons on the back. It is discreetly pleated at the back. The riding dress is in good to very good condition. A few moth holes. The dress includes cotton cuffs, a breast insert, a bow tie and a ladies collar. Riding hat is covered with moleskin. Wide side band that has loops on the sides. Lined with silk on the inside. American label from Chicago. Moderately well preserved. Abrasion in the fur. Silk inside has come loose at edge. Signs of age and wear. The riding whip is made of braided leather. The handle is made in the shape of a horse's hoof. Very well preserved.
