Exceptional walking dress, dated 1912. Origin: America, Washington label of the company Pluym. The dress is dated April 1912. It is the month in which the Titanic sank. On her maiden voyage, the Titanic collided sideways with an iceberg about 300 miles southeast of Newfoundland at about 11:40 p.m. on April 14, 1912, and sank two hours and 40 minutes later. ... Because of the high number of victims, the sinking of the Titanic is one of the greatest and most famous maritime disasters. According to tradition, the dress was made for a passenger who booked a passage on the return trip from New York to Europe. The name is inscribed on the label.
The dress is made of a linen fabric interrupted by red contrasting parts. A many small decorative buttons adorn the antique dress. It consists of an elongated jacket and a tightly cut skirt, which should emphasize the elegant line. Closure of the jacket by means of a large button. Very good to excellent condition. A small stain. Still wearable today. An ornamental piece of any Titanic collection. The decoration (jabot, parasol, blouse, jewelry) is not included.
