French couture custom made trained ball or evening gown from the early 1910s. Petersham label on the waist: Maurice Mayer * 8 Rue Saint Augustin * Paris. The dress is made of a gold brocade. It is heavily decorated with crystal beads, faux pearls and metallic thread in the front and back, all hand sewn. The bodice and sleeves are embroidered metallic tulle lace. Tassels of pearls and metallic chains drop from each sleeve. They are attached to medallions of metallic cords and pearls. The antique dress has panniers underneath that go from one side, around the back and to the other side. It has a fish tail train that has metal weights on each side and the end and a ribbon handle so she can hold it up while walking. Silver embroidery is in the center of the train. The dress is in good to very good condition with a few issues. The fabric has faded a bit. The inside stiff ribbon at the waist has vertical tears from age and stress. There are some small holes in the tulle lace. The fabric has (on one place) turned green from oxidation. It is wrinkled and needs professional pressing. The decoration is not included.
