Wow. What a dream of lace and organza. Worn at guest receptions in a wealthy household in America, circa 1901, this antique dress is a two-piece, consisting of a top and skirt. Label: Maguire * Importer * Pittsburgh PA. Hanging chest made of lace, which has been made by machine. Neckline and chest area are decorated with handmade and machine-made lace. Long sleeves that have ruffles of lace, but also decorated with lace. Wide belt made of silk. This is decorated with four buttons in the front and two buttons made of rhinestones in the back. Two buttons are also attached to the chest area. The skirt ends in a train. Cartouches/intarsia of lace are incorporated into the skirt. Two wide, round lace ribbons are also added. Petticoat made of light silk. The dress is in good to very good condition. Minor tears in the fabric of the left sleeve. Most of the underskirt is splintered. Other minor tears in the delicate fabric and lace. Due to the opulence, these are hardly noticeable. The decoration is not included.
