Two-piece walking dress, ca. 1910, Parisian label: Linker & Cie, 7 Rue Auber. The antique dress is made of black velvet and decorated with trimmings and buttons. The buttons at the front are used to fasten the jacket. The inside of the jacket is lined with light-coloured silk. This is tattered and needs to be replaced. The skirt is not lined. Otherwise, the antique dress is in good to very good condition. A small tear in the back (see photo). A few seams are open; these can be sewn with ease. In all these years, this Linker dress is the first we have held in our hands from this fashion salon. A collector's item that very rarely comes onto the market.
Linker & Co. was one of the most famous addresses in Paris for evening and street dresses. But not only that... elegant evening gowns could also be commissioned here. Fashion magazines are full of Linker adverts. The dress that Kate Winslet wore when she got out of the car to board the Titanic was made according to the cut of a Linker dress (see the last photo).
