Very rare antique hobble skirt dress, ca. 1913. Dresses of this kind were only made and worn for a short time. They are very rare - and in this elegance even rarer. In these hobble skirt dresses the skirt was very tight and floor-length. The name-giving characteristic is that the wearers could only take small steps in it, so they were forced to make clumsy tripping or hobbling.
This dress is made of purple silk with a floral motif. A large V-neck decorated with flounces and a collar of net tulle. They are part of a bodice of tulle worn under the dress. Long sleeves decorated with cabochon stones. Very high waist, which is a reminiscence of the Empire line (not unpopular in the fashion of the time). The skirt falls straight in front. At the back it is gathered - at the level of the hollow of the knee. Large silk bow with tassels. A beautiful antique dress. The decoration is not included.
