Very nice coat/jacket from the rare Guipure lace, ca. 1910. The coat is worn open, over a black dress. Flowers sewn on. Three-dimensional applications. Wide cuffs. Very good to excellent condition. On the back a seam is open. This can be sewn easily. At 2-3 places a few threads are torn. Also here a repair should be easy. A rare piece of a long forgotten handicraft art.
Guipure lace is a type of bobbin lace. It connects the motifs with bars or plaits rather than net or mesh. Guipure is a French word. It used to describe lace which has a gimp or thicker thread to outline the pattern, but this is no longer used.
