Italian walking ensemble, ca. 1904. Severe design and S-line, reminiscent of the military cut. Label in the waist band of the skirt: Grossi & Giansandi, Rome. The ensemble consists of a skirt and bolero in black wool (both linend with silk), a blouse, a silk belt, cuffs, a stand-up collar and a bow tie. The blouse made of lace and cotton is characterized by a hanging chest. Back closure with small buttons. The skirt of the ensemble has a wide waist. For wearing in modern times, the waist would have to be reduced. The blouse is in very good to excellent condition. One small stain. Bolero and skirt are in very good condition. Probably the bolero has been partially unraveled. One sleeve is minimally longer than the other. The lining of the sleeves feels "too long". One little hole in the front of the skirt. Still: a rare piece of fashion tailoring. Over the last 10 years, this is the first dress we've held that originated in Italy. Chain and glasses are not included, everything else is.
