This beautiful 1901 summer gown is a wonderful example of the elegance of late Victorian and early Edwardian dressmaking. It is a little sampler of the century dressmaking techniques. The puffed sleeves are typical for the late Victorian dressmaking time. The pigeon breast front is typical for the Edwardian time around 1904. This beautiful dress is made of white China silk. Waistband Label: “Mme. Robin 62 * Robes & Manteaux * Rue de la Cheussée D'antin * Paris". The dress is trimmed with embroidered silk band and pleated chiffon on neckline and on the 1/2 length sleeves. Little train. Coloured pleated silk waistband. Excellent condition. Only a few very small chiffon holes. The bodice lining is shattering. Missing lining in skirt. The decoration is not included.
