It’s very rare to find an antique evening dress with day bodice or an antique day dress with evening bodice. And it’s very rare to find a dress made in purple silk. We find one in Scotland. Label: „Miss Armour * 355 Bath Crescent“. Miss Armour was a dress and cloak maker in Bath Crescent. At the evening bodice the shoulders, the short sleeves, the neck and the typical worked out breast for this time are richly decorated with cream lace. At the day bodice the collar, the cuffs of the long sleeves and the chest area are mounted in the same lace. The skirt is rather simple in comparison. He ends into a train and has a petticoat made of purple linen. This, in turn, is provided at the bottom hem with a dust lane. Common for all three parts of this ensemble are the stitched fabric panels which are connected with crochet threads. The ensemble is in very good condition. Only the silk is faded in the course of over 110 years in some parts. Smaller stains that are scattered all over the dress. The lace looks a little dusty. All in all is a rare and beautiful testimony of Scottish tailoring. The decoration is not included.
