Elegant evening dress, ca. 1908. Origin: America. Over flowered silk taffeta with floral motif, lace has been processed. This combination gives the dress a sophisticated look. Pale pink flowers shimmer through the lace, encouraging a closer look. Green silk belt decorated with a bow on the back. The same silk is also worked on the cuffs of the ¾ length sleeves. Chest, shoulders and back are decorated with a border with small tassels. Four panels of cream silk are processed in the hem area of the dress. The dress is in very good condition. Minor flaws are: tiny light spots; the silk belt shows the first signs of fatigue; the hem is slightly discolored; the cream-colored lowest band on the hem has some flaws. The decoration is not included.
The dress also includes a large silk fan. Bone staves and cover stave with a subtle floral design. The silk of the fan leaf is painted with pink and apricot daisies. Leaves complement the distinctive appearance. Light gray marabou feathers are attached to the tip of the leaf. The back of the fan is plain color. Cream silk tassel to secure the fan when closed. In good to very good condition. The bow appears to have been renewed.
