Elegant one-piece dress, ca. 1908. Provenance: France. The antique dress is one of the heaviest dresses we have held in our hands. It is embroidered from top to bottom: with glass pins, with sequins, with glass beads and smaller and larger (cut) stones made of glass. The sequins are made of an organic material, even though they sound metallic. If you put a sequin in water, it becomes soft and stretches. A sign of the authenticity and age of the dress. V-neck. Shoulder area in tulle lace. Half-length sleeves that are open (the cream-coloured tulle is only present in a few places). The dress ends in a train. A glass beaded belt with tassels is included to match the dress. The dress closes backwards with hooks, eyelets and press studs. Good to very good condition. A few hooks and eyes are missing. However, sequins, glass beads and pins are also missing. Their absence is hardly noticeable. The dress must have had a light blue silk undergarment. This is missing, but tiny remnants of fabric can still be seen on the inside. Tiny missing spots in the tulle lace in the shoulder area. The decoration is not included. A beautiful and very rare dress!
