Extravagant walking ensemble/street ensemble, ca. 1908, label: De Baun * New York. The ensemble consists of a jacket and dress. Both are richly decorated with soutache appliqués. Material: ribbed, slightly thicker cotton. The ensemble was probably worn during the transitional period or in the mild winter. The jacket is long at the front and back. It is fastened with hooks and eyelets. V-neckline to allow the lace insert of the dress to be visible. Long sleeves. The dress has a high stand-up collar, a breast insert and Irish lace cuffs. Part of the sleeves are made of cotton gauze. Pleated area at the back of the hem. This has made walking easier. Back closure with hooks and eyelets. The ensemble is in good to very good condition. Discreet underarm stains, very few tiny stains, a few darkened buttons and a small repaired area on one hip. All in all: nothing serious that would prevent it from being worn today. The decoration is not included.
