"Chestnut" Coat, ca. 1905

An early 20th century very elegant cream velvet opera or evening coat, with a stylised appliqué design of horse chestnuts and foliage worked in chenille and wool onto velvet, the front edged with a black and cream border and flounce of lace. The chestnuts give the coat his name: Chestnut Coat. Very good and wearable condition. One repaired bigger hole, disappear into the folds. Two stains, not very noticeable. The black and cream border is a little bit worn out. The coat is re-lined. The decoration is not included.
