One-piece so-called "bord de mer" dress, ca. 1910. Origin: France. It was "en vogue" to board a ship with such dresses and make smaller voyages. These trips, even if they had the character of pleasure trips from today's point of view, were classified as a "sporting activity" at that time. Or: it was walked with such dresses on the promenades of the seas. The elegance of this ensemble is created by the stripes.
The blue and white striped dress captivates with crochet lace intarsia, a high collar and blue decorative appliqués (especially in the chest area). Attached belt. Made of a thin linen fabric. Wore the dress with a thin petticoat (we draped the dress with a petticoat; it is not included). Three-quarter length sleeves. Back closure by hook and eye and small mother-of-pearl buttons. Well preserved. Two repaired areas; a few stains; one area stabilized from the inside; "tired fabric" in the shoulder area. An elegant dress accompanied by the sound of the sea many years ago. The decoration is not included.
