Walking Dress in exceptional fashion, ca. 1906. Label: "S. Casola & Bros.", Ladies Tailors out of New York. Long-line jacket and full skirt. Expertly tailored and made from a medium blue textured raw silk, it has a lovely drape and movement to it. The jacket has wonderful black and white striped silk inset into the top collar portion, as well as trimming the bib and along the edges of the cuffs. Pigeon breasted front with three Asian inspired "frog" type closures with self-fabric covered buttons. The Jacket has a double vented tail with angled button plackets on each side of the panel edges. The full skirt is also rich with design elements, with angled overlaid panels and full bustled back. The suit is in very good condition with a few flaws: small fade spot above the left breast. There is some thinning/tearing to the striped silk at the back of the collar, but only along the very top of the fold, so it's hard to notice unless looking for it and does not effect wear or display. The cream silk liner has some stress tears at the armholes and back of the neck and is starting to get fragile and break in a few places, though still is intact and displays nicely (would not need to be replaced as it is unless suit was to be worn). There are some small scattered brown spots at the back of the skirt around the rear (she may have sat in something that was splattered), but it's so full in back that they get lost in the many folds and gathers and do not detract (also may lift with proper treatment). There's also some very faint brown watermark type spots at the very bottom of the skirt in front (probably just from walking, etc.). The decoration is not included.
