Art Nouveau Purple Silk Dinner Gown, ca. 1912

Art Nouveau dinner gown in purple silk satin and chiffon with the label: “Mlle. * J. Franken * 35 Breevort PL* Brooklyn”. The antique one piece gown is in a purple silk satin and heavily boned through the bodice. Decorative pleating at the waistline. The gown then has an overdress in purple silk chiffon attached at the princess seams and shoulders. Chest yoke in an antique gold and white net lace with stand collar. The collar has embroidered purple chenille in the lace and is edged in silk ribbon and white chiffon. Purple silk, crewel embroidered down the front and back bodice. Purple lace falls from the shoulders down the front and ending in purple dangle ball fringe. Chiffon slide detail over the lace panels. Gorgeous ring medallion on the back drapes the chiffon and silk around the sides and through the center. Hook and eye closures down the back. 3/4 Set in sleeves are ruched down the outer arms creating a self standing ruffle. Purple lace and bullion lace at the base. The antique Art Nouveau gown is in excellent condition, only a fade spot on the left lower skirt. The decoration is not included.
