Art Nouveau afternoon gown in a royal blue and white silk print. Label: “Mlle. * J. Franken * 35 Breevort PL* Brooklyn”. Chest yoke in white lace and a blue and gold embroidered net. Stand collar in the white lace edged in gold bullion ribbon and a chiffon ruffle. Navy piped squiggle trim down the left side edge and a single rever on the right side adorned in crewel embroidery. The back mirrors the front. Elbow length sleeves with horizontal tucks and decorative piped trimming. Under sleeves in silk with blue net lower sleeves adorned in a sky blue embroidered squiggle. Slender skirt falls with a piped chain design in navy silk circling the waist and with large decorative buttons down the front. The buttons are covered in navy silk and embroidered with large gold stars in the centers. The same chains circle the back waist with chains trailing down the back skirt. Navy silk taffeta underskirt, ivory chiffon facing to the chest yoke and a an ivory sating bodice lining with full boning. Hook and eye closures down the back. This antique Art Nouveau dress is in very good condition, only the underskirt is beginning to shatter as well as breaks in the chiffon facing. The decoration is not included.
