Art Nouveau Green Silk Evening Gown, ca. 1910

Stunning Art Nouveau evening gown with the label: “Mlle. * J. Franken * 35 Breevort PL* Brooklyn”. The antique gown is made in a very pale celery green silk with ivory lace and silver beading. Boned lining in ivory silk hook closures down the back. The bodice is in the ivory lace with a inset in ivory lace adorned in silver bullion embroidery, bugle beads and tiny sequins. Green silk suspenders fall in pleats from the shoulders to the center front and back and adorned in matching colour crewel work embroidery. Unlined lace sleeves are gathered at the shoulders. Beaded appliqué panels also rest on the shoulders. On the right shoulder is a piped bow with dangle ball fringe. Pleated cummerbund in silk with a covered buckle decoration at the center back. The slender skirt falls with large pleats down the center front. Overlapping front panels swag over the hips in pleats and fall flat from the center back waistline. Silk tails down the center back with ball and tassel fringe ends. Silk taffeta lining. The antique Art Nouveau dress is in excellent condition, only a couple pin dot stains and one pea size stain on the front right side. The decoration is not included.
