Beaded net evening gown, ca. 1912. American label: B. Altman & Co. * Paris and New York. Cream floral-patterned silk having a tulle overlay, short lace sleeve, bodice decorated with pearls, silver metallic threads, graphite bugles and clear beads, tulle waistband with a corsage of colored lamé flowers, asymmetrical tulle overskirt having bands of clear beads edged in pearls, lace bow at back waist with streamers. The dress is possibly a dress from Lucile. Lucile was known to have bought fabric from B. Altman. Good to very good condition. Pale yellow stains to lower skirt, small holes and tears in tulle, some bead losses, yellow chiffon parts. The decoration is not included.
Provenance: Helen Larson Collection. Helen Larson was a collector based in Whittier, California. She owned a successful film costume rental business and amassed a world-renowned private collection of historic fashion. She was a brilliant connoisseur and historian.
