Two-piece antique wedding dress, ca. 1895. Provenance: American collection. The fabric is a cream-colored, patterned wool fabric. The wedding probably took place in winter. Crepe chiffon ruffles at the neckline, on the front and back. Large gigot sleeves/leg o’ mutton sleeves, which also have crepe chiffon inserts in the shoulder area. A small silk bow on each sleeve. Appliquéd chemical lace. A large bow at the waist on the back of the top. The skirt is kept rather simple. It ends in a small train. The dress is in very good condition, with the usual minor flaws: a few small stains, subtle signs of wear, flaws in the chiffon area, a few pinholes. The decoration is not included.
