Antique Evening Gown, ca. 1895. Two-piece cream silk jacquard having short-sleeve bodice decorated with turquoise velvet, wired bows and satin ribbon having a floral pattern in black, gold and cut-steel beads, silver sequins and pearls, velvet waistband with center turquoise and rhinestone oval pin, separate velvet collar; trained skirt pleated at center back with velvet hem band, lined in cream taffeta with hem ruffle and a pair of center back ties. Petersham and waistband labels "Mrs. Cuttle, Bradford". Very good condition with a few flaws: Minor bead losses, pin missing one stone, velour shows minor edge wear, minor stain on side of skirt, splits to skirt below waistband and to lining. The decoration is not included.
Provenance: Helen Larson Collection. Helen Larson was a collector based in Whittier, California. She owned a successful film costume rental business and amassed a world-renowned private collection of historic fashion. She was a brilliant connoisseur and historian.
