What a "dramatic dress"! We have never had such a typical dress of the 1890s. Made and worn in Paris. Maison H. Thirion * 47 Boulevard Saint-Michel * Paris. The fabric is a patterned nile green silk fabric. Big gigot sleeves, small stand-up collar, stiff skirt that ends in a small train. The antique dress is a two-piece dress. Cuffs, belt and decorative elements on the skirt are made of colour-coordinated velvet. Half-length sleeves. What we only knew from pictures and literature - this dress has it: a wide pleat on the back (in the area of the skirt). This gives the dress an additional strictness. The whole appearance of the dress is austere - and yet very elegant. The overall condition of the dress is good. The pleat and the hem of the skirt show signs of wear. The inner silk is torn. Defects in the underarm area. Spots of repair and "thin silk" in the area of the belt. Nevertheless: a beautiful dress for draping that is unique. The decoration is not included.
