A beautiful lingerie dress, ca. 1898, origin: America. These dresses get their name from the material used. They are called "lingerie dresses" or "dessous dresses" because the materials used (cotton and light lace) and decoration techniques (inserted lace, embroidery, piping) were originally used for petticoats, chemises and other forms of lingerie. These dresses were mainly worn by younger women. And they were almost always white.
This dress is made from thin cotton. Sleeves with ruffles. High stand-up collar. Lace appliqués. Wide belt with a bow at the back. The skirt ends in a train. Flounces at the hem; lace appliqués running horizontally. In good to very good condition. A small tear in the bust area; discreet stains; the inner silk of the bodice is partially chipped. We have draped the dress with a petticoat. This is not included. The same applies to the jewelry used.
