Biarritz, an elegant seaside resort on the Basque coast in southwestern France, gained notoriety after representatives of the European aristocracy discovered the fishing village as a vacation spot for themselves in the 19th century. This extravagant dress was probably worn to a glittering ball in Biarritz in the late 19th century. It is a dream in peach color. Made by Larue * Bordeaux-Biarritz. The top has a neckline rounded with pearls. Pleated bust and back. Suspended straps of ribbed silk trimmed with appliqués of glass pins and glass beads. Wide belt. Short sleeves decorated with lace. The skirt ends in a long train. In the front part the skirt is decorated with lace and the same applications in gold and pearl colors. Excellently preserved. Only the folded belt needs to be re "folded" and fastened. A few glass beads are certainly missing. The decoration (incl. fan) is not included.
