Purple ladies jacket, ca. 1898. Illegible English label. What can be read is: Ladies Tailors 288 & 290 Regent St. London. The jacket is from the collection of A.T. Jones & Sons. The antique jacket is decorated with a flat woven braid applique trimmed with jet beads. Buckles of marcasite. Pleated black silk satin ribbon under the changeable collar. Two decorative buckles resembling clefs. Inside lined with silk satin. Closure by means of buttons. Well preserved. Faded areas on the sleeves. The inner lining is brittle. The label is worn. Minor stains. Subtle signs of age and wear. Decoration is not included.
