Elegant three-piece evening dress, ca. 1894. Origin: English collection. The dress consists of a skirt and two evening tops. Both of them are laced backwards. Both are embroidered with tulle and small silver beads. The skirt is heavy and ends in a small train. The front and side hemline are ruched and also decorated with the beads. The dress must have been exposed to light over the last 130 year. It has faded almost evenly. Now it shimmers a light greenish-yellow; 130 years ago it was a rich green. Somehow, however, this new color enhances the dress' distinctive appearance. The dress is moderately well preserved. Few stains. Several tears in the embroidered tulle sections, a miss on the one snip, underarm stains and defects on the one top... The dress is beautiful. We hope it finds a new home. It could be a young collector's first dress. It could be in the green salon... Or in a small, private museum. The decoration is not included.
