Elgant two-piece evening dress, ca. 1893. The dress is made of an ecru silk satin. Mainly the skirt is made of it, partly also the bodice. Silk satin was used for the puff sleeves of the top and the bow on the right shoulder. The bodice is further made of silk organza and chemical lace. The lace is based on a Reticella-inspired black cord lattice. Inserted into this lace are bands of French jet bead embroidery. These bands also continued into the cuffs of the half-length sleeves and the stand-up collar. The chest area is sheer (barely visible because of the black tailor's dummy). The skirt is a pleated skirt with so-called "cartridge pleats". Inside lined with silk taffeta. Very good to excellent condition. Small loss of pearls; the lining of the skirt is splintering in a few places; a few hooks and eyes are missing; the lace shows subtle wear marks; the skirt hem trim also shows wear marks. The brooch is included, but the gloves, bag, handkerchief and pearl necklace are not.
