Extravagant dress from the Belle Époque period, ca. 1896. For us the dress is a dinner dress, but it could just as well be a reception dress or afternoon dress. From the style and the stiffness of the fabrics the antique dress can be dated before 1900. It captivates by its striped elements in the - as we find - very elegant colour grey. The dress is a two-piece (unfortunately without label) and comes from France. The top is closed in the front by (hidden) buttons. "Hanging bust", which is decorated with lace and buttons. Long sleeves in silk and lace. Semicircular neckline decorated with lace and tulle. Bows made of black velvet. Epaulettes on the shoulders. Skirt falls straight in front. It ends in a train. Decorative elements in velvet and lace. The antique dress is a real eye-catcher. In the front old stains, a few tiny holes in the black lace, very few smaller stains, a lateral stain (see photo). The decoration is not included.
