Two-piece evening dress of silk brocade, ca.1898. English label with woven waist band: Colley. Two coats of arms, signs for court tailors, adorn the label. Light green or lime green and pink flower bouquets are woven into the ivory silk. The light green color is skillfully incorporated into the dress by other decorative elements: the tapered belt, the rosettes at the hips and hem, the embellishments at the upper arms, the decorative bands at the hem that go around. The pale pink is picked up in the tulle of the bodice and subtly in the cascading lace at the front of the skirt. The half-length sleeves are trimmed with tulle. Semi-circular bust neckline. Very well to excellent preserved. Inner silk is somewhat brittle and torn in the area of the train. Missing inner skirt silk under the belt lace. Underarm tears in the tulle area. Darkened lace. A few stains in the skirt. Decoration is not included.
There is a pair of evening shoes in the same fabric to match the dress. Polished steel buckles. The shoes are in very good condition. Discreet traces of wear. Without shoe trees.
