Rare bespoke English side saddle habit, ca. 1895. With English label in both the jacket and the apron with owners name. Label: Alex Scott, Habit Maker and Ladies Tailor, only address, 15. South Molton Street, W. London. Owner: Mrs. E. Oliver Iselin. Oliver Iselin (1854-1932) was the husband from Edith Hope Goddard (1868-unknow). Edith was ca. 27 years old wearing this beautiful ridding habit. The jacket in a charcoal black grey, the apron in compliment matching dark grey. The jacket with beautiful tailoring and flat felled seams, button closure, two vents at the back, long flared shape. Apron or skirt with all the accoutrements side hook and eye at waist with button closure below. Overall very good condition with scattering of small pin dot holes in the jacket, and the silk lining has some shatter in the jacket. The decoration, incl. saddle and riding whip, is not included.
