This ca. 1895 “V.C.B Spring Frame Skirt Pad” is a rare late Victorian dress support designed in a folding oval shape. Mounted in black silk with red trims and string, it features wire frames and waist ties, creating a lightweight structure worn beneath skirts to enhance the fashionable silhouette of the 1890s. Each oval measures 17 cm by 12.5 cm, reflecting the compact engineering typical of late 19th‑century underpinnings.

Condition & Preservation

The skirt pad is very well preserved, with its original wire structure intact and the silk covering still vibrant.
