Neuosier Dinner Plate, 1911 – KPM Berlin Imperial Service for Kaiser Wilhelm II

Construction & Materials

This Neuosier dinner plate, dated 1911, originates from the imperial porcelain service for Kaiser Wilhelm II and was produced by the renowned Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin (KPM). It belongs to the most artistically crafted objects of the Kaiserzeit, combining refined design with exceptional porcelain painting.

Made of white‑glazed porcelain, the plate is decorated in iron‑red and features an elegant Rococo cartouche with the Prussian eagle and the royal cipher “FR” (Friedrich Rex) beneath the crown — a direct reference to Frederick the Great and the long‑standing traditions of the Prussian monarchy.

The design is complemented by colorful flower bouquets and a finely executed gilded vine‑leaf border, giving the plate a festive and representative character. A distinctive highlight is the monogram “WR” (Wilhelm Rex), emphasizing the personal connection to Kaiser Wilhelm II and marking the plate as part of his imperial household service.

The reverse bears the classic KPM marks: the underglaze blue sceptre and the red orb mark, both dated.

Historical Context & Collecting Significance

Neuosier plates from the imperial table service are among the most desirable examples of KPM Berlin porcelain. Their combination of royal provenance, symbolic decoration, and masterful craftsmanship makes them standout pieces for collectors of imperial German tableware, Kaiserzeit porcelain, and museum‑quality decorative arts.
