Neuosier Dinner Plate, 1909 – KPM Berlin Imperial Service for Kaiser Wilhelm II
Construction & Materials
This Neuosier dinner plate from an imperial porcelain service for Kaiser Wilhelm II, dated 1909, is a finely crafted piece produced by the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin (KPM). Decorated in iron‑red, the plate features a refined Rococo cartouche with the Prussian eagle and the royal cipher “FR” (Friedrich Rex) beneath the crown — a direct reference to Frederick the Great and the enduring symbolism of the Prussian monarchy.
The design is framed by colorful flower bouquets and an intricately painted gilded vine‑leaf border, giving the plate an elegant and festive appearance. A notable highlight is the monogram “WR” (Wilhelm Rex), underscoring the personal connection to Kaiser Wilhelm II and identifying the piece as part of his imperial table service.
The reverse carries the classic KPM marks: the underglaze blue sceptre and the red orb mark, both dated.
Historical Context & Collecting Significance
Objects from the imperial household of Kaiser Wilhelm II are rare and highly sought after. Neuosier plates with iron‑red decoration, royal ciphers, and dated KPM marks represent some of the most desirable examples of Kaiserzeit porcelain. Their combination of historic symbolism, high‑quality porcelain painting, and royal provenance makes them standout pieces for collectors of KPM Berlin, German imperial history, and museum‑quality porcelain.
