Neuosier Dinner Plate, 1912 – KPM Berlin Imperial Service for Kaiser Wilhelm II

Construction & Materials

This Neuosier dinner plate, dated 1912, originates from the imperial porcelain service for Kaiser Wilhelm II and is a finely crafted piece produced by the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin (KPM). It ranks among the most artistically designed collectibles of the Kaiserzeit, combining refined porcelain craftsmanship with richly symbolic decoration.

Made of white‑glazed porcelain, the plate is decorated in iron‑red and features an elegant Rococo cartouche with the Prussian eagle and the royal cipher “FR” (Friedrich Rex) beneath the crown — a direct reference to Frederick the Great and the long‑standing traditions of the Prussian monarchy.

The central motif is framed by colorful flower bouquets and a meticulously painted gilded vine‑leaf border, giving the plate a festive and highly representative appearance. A notable highlight is the monogram “WR” (Wilhelm Rex), underscoring the personal connection to Kaiser Wilhelm II and marking the plate as part of his imperial household service.

The reverse bears the classic KPM marks: the underglaze blue sceptre and the red orb mark, both dated.

Historical Context & Collecting Significance

Neuosier plates from the imperial table service are among the most desirable examples of KPM Berlin porcelain. Their combination of royal provenance, symbolic decoration, and masterful painting makes them standout highlights for collectors of imperial German tableware, Kaiserzeit porcelain, and representative objects of German history.
